About

I am on a mission to empower kids.

Why?

Because the world needs more people who are brave, open-minded, creative and confident; individuals who have the power to be extraordinary and do great things.

But empowering kids is no small feat nor is it an easy task.

Empowering children is about smart parenting.

It requires making choices that promote the development of your child’s intelligence.

It requires providing opportunities to promote your child’s creativity and innovative thinking.

It requires helping your child understand themselves better and encouraging them to connect with others in meaningful and rewarding ways.

It requires commitment to raise an individual with big hopes and dreams and the power to accomplish them.

That is the single focus of this blog and it is why you are here.

Because you have a child that can be extraordinary and I can help you.

So your first step in smart parenting is to sign up to this blog.

You visit a lot of sites, you get a lot of information, and it’s easy to forget where the good resources are. I promise you that I have effective, productive, and valuable strategies to help you empower your child. By signing up, you will receive them without having to think twice about it. Smart parenting!

I will never spam you and you can always unsubscribe. There is no risk, only empowerment.

Now, as for your questions:

Who writes Tot Thoughts?

Tot Thoughts is written by Karla Valenti, CEO and founder of NiSoSa (an enterprise that designs and develops resources to empower children through creativity).

You can get more on FacebookTwitter, and Pinterest, or join the Google+ community – Smart Parenting.

How is this different from other parenting blogs?

Tot Thoughts aims to empower children.

My goal is for you to leave here having learned something new and with additional resources at your disposal.

I am not trying to (just) entertain you, I am trying to challenge you.

I don’t want to simply complain about how hard parenting is (it’s ridiculously hard!), but to give you actual strategies that you can use to work through those challenges.

I am not going to sit you through a chronicle of my personal journey as a parent, but I am going to share with you how these techniques personally work for me as a parent and how they can work for you.

It’s about smart parenting.

The site focuses on five key topics (found on the site’s menu):

  • Multiple Intelligences
  • Creativity
  • Empowerment
  • Education
  • Negotiation

The first three topics are critical to the development of independent, capable and confident children and so are the main focus of this blog.

“Education” relates to how we teach our children (not just in school but in life) to use their intelligence and creativity to become empowered individuals.

“Negotiations” relates to giving our children real opportunities to practice their empowerment.
